2 Injured After Explosion, House Fire In Nevada City

NEVADA CITY (CBS13) – A home in rural Nevada City was engulfed in flames after a reported explosion Saturday afternoon.

The scene is on Rocker Road, off of Banner Mountain Trail.

Cal Fire spokesperson Lynn Tolmachoff tells CBS13 that once their crews got to the scene, they found a home fully involved in a fire. Nevada County Consolidated Fire was the primary agency handling the incident, Tolmachoff notes.

An adult and child have been injured in the fire. Their injuries are said to be minor to moderate.

Crews were able to contain the fire before it spread to the surrounding woodlands, but the home has been left with extensive damage.

Investigators with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office say the scene is a suspected honey oil lab. A man who lives at the home has been detained and is being questioned.
