Firefighters More Than Double Containment Of Rocky Fire

LOWER LAKE, Calif. (CBS/AP) - A massive blaze raging in the Lower Lake area has grown to 60,000 acres.

Cal Fire says the fast-moving Rocky Fire has destroyed 24 homes and 26 outbuildings and threatens 6,301 more structures.

Firefighters have contained 12 percent of the fire, which is up seven percent from Sunday night. They credit lower temperatures and higher humidity.

The wildfire has been raging in an area of hills in Lake, Colusa and Yolo Counties covered in dense brush and oak trees since Wednesday.

Cal Fire says an evacuation advisory has been issued affecting 12,000 people and several roads have been closed.

The blaze is the biggest of several burning in Northern California.
