Rocklin mother charged with murder in 4-month-old daughter's death

ROCKLIN - A Rocklin mother has been charged with murder in connection with the death of her 4-month-old baby.

Jazmin Johnson, 30, arraigned in court Tuesday on charges of murder and assault on a child causing death. She was arrested after Rocklin Police officers found the infant's lifeless body while they were performing a welfare check shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday at an apartment along Parkside Drive, according to Rocklin Police Department statement.

Despite receiving life-saving measures, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. The cause of the baby's death is not yet known.

Johnson was booked into the South Placer Jail. She is expected back in court on the morning of January 30.
