Reward Offered In San Diego Sea Lion Attacks
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A $2,000 reward is being offered to find attackers who caused the deaths of 10 sea lions who were found shot or gaffed on San Diego beaches.
The group San Diego Animal Advocates is offering the reward.
U-T San Diego says eight sea lions were found shot over the past year — six of them in the past two months.
All were so badly hurt that they had to be euthanized.
Three other sea lions were hooked by fishermen's gaffes. Two died.
Some fishermen consider sea lions to be fish-eating pests.
However, it's against federal law to harm the animals. Violations can carry heavy fines and possible jail terms.
