Report: A's To Trade Coco Crisp To Indians

Nothing official has been released, but reports from twitter are saying longtime Oakland A's outfielder and fan-favorite Coco Crisp has been traded to the Cleveland Indians.

The details of the deal, such as what the A's are getting in return, are unknown. The deadline for postseason-eligible players acquired by trade is Wednesday, so Crisp will have a shot at making the postseason roster.

Crisp, 36, is in his seventh season in the green and gold. He's hitting just .234 this season, but his 11 home runs are the most he's had since 2013 (22). He made his MLB debut with the Indians on Aug. 15, 2002 and now 14 years later, he'll be helping them push towards the postseason.

The switch-hitting outfielder waived his ten-and-five rights, allowing the front office to trade him during the waiver-trade period in August. Despite no definitive announcement being made, reports have said the deal is as good as done and Crisp is no longer in the A's clubhouse.

His defense has declined, he doesn't get on base at the same rate he used to and he is still prone to nagging injuries, but a part-time spot off the bench is expected of him in Cleveland. He'll be fighting for a fourth outfielder position between Abraham Almonte, Brandon Guyer and others when the rosters expand to 40 players in September.
