Reno Has Dense Smoke Advisory For Second Day In A Row
RENO, Nev. (AP) — For the second day in a row, the National Weather Service has issued a "dense smoke advisory" for Reno and much of the Sierra's eastern front as the smoky haze from a California wildfire nearly 100 miles away again pushed air quality into the unhealthy range.
Reno's air quality was considered unhealthy Tuesday morning for the general population. By noon, it improved to a range considered unhealthy primarily for sensitive populations, including the elderly and those with respiratory conditions.
The service advisory in effect through 8 p.m. stretches from Reno to Gardnerville. It anticipates worsening conditions as the day goes on, with visibility dropping to about a mile at times when additional smoke from the King Fire is most likely to spread into Nevada during late afternoon and evening.
