Rajon Rondo Is The Worst Newcomer?

By Deuce Mason

Kings fans may be mixed about the team adding point guard Rajon Rondo, but ESPN did not hold back in their assessment.

ESPN NBA experts voted Rondo as the worst addition of the NBA offseason. Their forecast says: "Rondo has made his teams worse for about three seasons running. The isn't a one-season blip. It's more likely that the league has passed Rondo by. Not only has the league changed, but so has Rondo."

Let's check in with my forecast.

Deuce's Doppler: There's a 100 percent chance the national media will have nothing good to say about the Kings over the next couple of months, and that's OK.

Winning the offseason means nothing to me. Remember when the media was hyping the Padres for their amazing and aggressive offseason? They're two-games below .500 and 6.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

Remember when the Lakers added Dwight Howard and Steve Nash? Some "experts" believed that team could win 72 games. Title favorites? Absolutely!

The Kings have every right to be criticized. The reality is that they haven't made the playoffs since 2006 and they've had a TON of drama. In Rondo's case, he has to prove that he's not going to cause problems like he did in Dallas, and he has to show that he can play at a high level. The NBA puts a premium on shooting and Rondo can't shoot. His defense hasn't been the same either.

The full list of worst newcomers include: Lance Stephenson (Clippers), Wes Matthews and Deron Williams-(Mavs), and Roy Hibbert (Lakers).
