Police: Woman Shot, Killed In Modesto; Husband Arrested
MODESTO (CBS13) - A Modesto man is under arrest, suspected in the homicide of his own wife.
Modesto police say officers responded to a home along the 1000 block of Edison Avenue late Thursday night after someone requested a security check. Officers contacted one resident, 61-year-old Steven Oliver, and then searched the home.
Inside, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics were called, but the woman was soon pronounced dead.
The woman has been identified as 61-year-old Sylvia Oliver, Steven's wife.
Detectives are now investigating the incident. It is unclear what led up to Sylvia being shot, but Steven has been arrested and booked at Stanislaus County Jail for homicide.
