Police: Patient Arrested After Throwing Knife At Nurse

STOCKTON (CBS13) – A scary situation at the St. Joseph's Behavioral Health Center had police arresting a patient Saturday morning.

The Stockton Police Department says that officers were called to the N. California Street hospital a little after 8 a.m. due to a reported assault with a knife.

At the scene, officers were told that that a patient at the hospital had, for some reason, become agitated with staff and attacked. The man – 31-year-old Patrick Johnston – is said to have made threats and attacked a staff member.

Police say Johnston then pulled out a pocket knife and threw it at a nurse.

Responding officers were able to take Johnston into custody without any further incident.

Johnston was booked at San Joaquin County Jail on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
