Police Looking For ATM 'Shoulder Surfer' In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) - Police are looking for a woman suspected of "shoulder surfing" at a local ATM.

The Fairfield Police Department says the woman at the ATM managed to memorize the PIN of the person in front of her. She was then able to quickly input the PIN again when the person walked away, gaining access to the person's account.

It is unclear how much money she stole, but police say such "shoulder surfers" can withdraw any amount of money from your account up to your daily maximum.

A photo of the woman taken from a surveillance camera has been posted to the police department's Facebook page.

Police warn anyone who uses ATMs to be wary of people who are standing too close behind. Further, it is imperative to make sure you are logged out before walking away from an ATM.
