Police increasing patrols after home invasion sexual assault reported in Fairfield

Search continues for man accused of home invasion, sexual assault in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD – An investigation is underway in Fairfield after a case of apparent home invasion sexual assault.

Fairfield police say the victim reported that they were in their home near Gramercy Circle on Wednesday when a man they didn't know forced himself inside and committed the assault.

Investigators believe the man is about 25 years old and was wearing a dark-colored hoodie. He also had a short brown beard, police say.

Police are increasing patrols in the area and residents should expect an increased presence.

"It's kind of jarring, honestly. I would never expect something like this to happen here," said William Medina, a neighbor nearby where the home invasion occurred.

Another neighbor, who spoke to CBS13 but did not want her name shared, said it was concerning.

"I've never had any issues in the neighborhood, and I've been here four years," she said.

CBS13 saw two Fairfield Police investigators going door to door in the neighborhood on Thursday. A neighbor who spoke to investigators told CBS13 they reviewed her security cameras but did not find anything.

Residents in the area are also being asked by police to check any home surveillance video they may have and report anything suspicious.
