Police: Elk Grove Officer Hit By Man Driving Drunk
ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Police say that an officer's car was hit by a man driving drunk late Saturday night.
Police say that the crash involved three cars at the intersection of Elk Grove-Florin and Sheldon Roads a little after 11 p.m. The Elk Grove Police officer and the driver of another car that was hit had to be taken to the hospital following the crash, according to police.
The driver of the third car, however, is said to have ran away from the scene.
Police were able to set up a perimeter in the area. Several hours later, the third driver – identified as 40-year-old John Minju – was found and arrested along the 7900 block of Symington Way.
Minju was under the influence of alcohol when he was arrested, police say. He now faces felony charges of DUI and hit-and-run.
The officer and other driver are expected to be OK.
