Police: Boyfriend Shot Sacramento Mom, Left Her To Die In Front Of Children In San Jose
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Sacramento mother of four was gunned down in front of her children and dumped on the side of the road by her boyfriend, investigators say.
The family of 33-year-old Kendra Gonzalez shares their grief over her death. Investigators say 25-year-old Andrew Butler has been on the run since Tuesday.
Olga Said, who goes by Jazzy, says she knew it was just a matter of time before her sister's rocky relationship with her boyfriend took a deadly turn after previous violent encounters.
"I begged her to leave him. One time I came over there she had a big black eye. Another time I came over there, she had a big 'ol scar across her face and she told me he had pistol-whipped her," she said.
San Jose Police say Gonzalez's daughter told them Butler shot Gonzalez five times at close range inside a car.
"He is considered armed and dangerous and we are interested in getting him off the streets," said Sgt. Albert Morales.
Gonzalez's family says the couple is from Sacramento and traveled to the Bay Area to meet with relatives. After the shooting, police say Butler dumped the 33-year-old's body and left the children to watch their mother die.
Her father, Kenneth Knight, says he never really knew Butler or felt comfortable around him.
"I thought it was strange the way he didn't communicate with me that much. And there were things about him that seemed kind of different," he said.
The family is pleading for Butler to turn himself in.
