Plane Catches Fire At Airport In Sierra Foothills
COLUMBIA (CBS13) - Two people are safe after the plane they were in caught fire at the Columbia Airport in the Sierra foothills.
The twin-propeller Beechcraft BE90 with tail number N350WA landed at around 5:30 a.m. Monday at the Columbia Airport. Shortly thereafter, the plane caught fire and the two people escaped unhurt, according to FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Columbia is a town located 66 miles east of Stockton in Tuolumne County. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, it had a population of 2,297.
