Stockton man killed in shooting in Lodi parking lot; suspect arrested

Suspect in Lodi homicide arrested

LODI – A search is on for a suspect after a man was shot and killed in a parking lot in Lodi late Monday morning, authorities say. 

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said dispatchers got a report of gunshots along the 6000 block of E. Pine Street just after 10 p.m.

First responders to that scene soon found a man in his late 20s dead in a parking lot.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 27-year-old Jorge Cortes-Bejar of Stockton. 

Detectives are investigating the shooting as a homicide. According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, the suspect was identified as 41-year-old Lodi resident Gabriel Hernandez. 

Late Tuesday night, officers in Manteca pulled over and arrested Hernandez after a short search. 

Deputies said the shooting was an isolated incident.
