Paul McCartney Confirms Final Concert At Candlestick
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS13) -- Fans of Paul McCartney, and of bittersweet déjà vu, rejoice - the legendary rocker confirmed that he would be playing at Candlestick Park one final time.
The Beatles played their last official concert at the 'Stick back on Aug. 29, 1966. Rumors have persisted that McCartney (one of the two living Beatles, along with Ringo Starr) would play a final concert at Candlestick as a send-off to the legendary stadium.
Thursday, McCartney put those rumors to rest and announced that Candlestick would be the final date on his "Out There" U.S. Tour.
The concert is scheduled for Aug. 14. Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 5 at 10 a.m.
Candlestick Park was originally the home of the San Francisco Giants, who played there from 1960-1999. The 49ers called the 'Stick home from 1971 until this past season. The stadium is scheduled for demolition at some point in late 2014 or early 2015.
