Judge Orders 3 To Stand Trial In Old Sacramento New Year's Eve Shooting

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Three people have been ordered to stand trial for the Old Sacramento New Year's Eve shooting that left two people dead.

A judge ordered Carlito Montoya, Charles Fowler-Sholz and Amber Scholz to face charges in connection with the deaths of two people on New Year's Eve 2012.

Detectives say it started when Amber Sholz told her husband Charles that someone spilled a drink on her, leading to a fight.

Their friend, Montoya, allegedly pulled out a gun and started shooting, killing a security guard and Gabriel Cordova. Cordova's wife Christina was also shot in the foot.

A Sacramento detective testifying in court says Fowler-Scholz and Montoya were hoping to make a name for themselves as gang members that night.
