Burglary Suspect Shot By Sheriff's Deputies in Rancho Cordova Dies From Injuries
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - A burglary suspect who brandished a knife at deputies has died from his injuries, sheriff's investigators said on Tuesday.
Sacramento County Sheriff's investigators say the man was a suspect in a burglary at a Walmart along the 10000 block of Folsom Boulevard. He was confronted by deputies in the shopping center, when he allegedly brandished a knife. Officers opened fire, striking the suspect.
The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Deputies say the incident happened just before 7 p.m. The suspect was noted to have been erratic and non-compliant with demands deputies were making.
A Taser was used multiple times on the suspect but had no apparent affect.
The department says two sergeants, 17 year and 19 year veterans of the force, were involved in the incident. The two have been placed on paid administrative leave, as usual procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
