Crash Clogs Traffic Through Downtown Sacramento
11 a.m. Update: Caltrans reports traffic is once again moving smoothly through downtown Sacramento. The number 5 lane of northbound Interstate 5 and the P Street exit remain closed, however.
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Caltrans is asking drivers to avoid using northbound Interstate 5 through downtown Sacramento due a crash causing a massive traffic backup.
A big rig crash that happened around 5:45 a.m. Thursday is causing the delays. Crews are currently working to clean up fuel spilled from the big rig.
Traffic along northbound I-5 is backed up all the way to Elk Grove Boulevard.
Lanes could be blocked until noon, according to Caltrans.
