2 killed in North Sacramento shooting; police say public not at risk

SACRAMENTO – Police in Sacramento are investigating a shooting that left two people dead in North Sacramento on Tuesday morning.

The scene was near Main Avenue and Kelton Way. Sacramento police say they responded to the scene just before 6 a.m. to investigate reports of a disturbance and possible shots fired.

Officers found a vehicle at the scene with a man dead inside, police say; evidence indicated that a shooting had taken place.

Another man suffering from a gunshot wound was found at a different location. That person was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead, police say.

Neighbors in the area told CBS13 a disabled veteran in a wheelchair asked a driver to turn down their loud music, which prompted the driver to run over the veteran. The veteran then pulled out a gun and shot the driver, neighbors said.

Sacramento police have not confirmed this is how it happened.

Police believe the incident is isolated and no suspects are believed to be outstanding.
