3 suspects identified in 2021 North Highlands shooting that left man dead, girlfriend hurt

NORTH HIGHLANDS – Detectives have identified three suspects, and arrested two of them, after a 2021 deadly double shooting in Sacramento County.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, back in June 2021, deputies responded to an apartment complex along Oakhollow Drive in North Highlands to investigate a shooting.

There, deputies found that 49-year-old Wayne Blanchard had been shot to death. His girlfriend had also been shot in the head.

Blanchard's girlfriend survived her injuries, deputies said.

At the time, all detectives knew about the suspects was that two men were seen driving away in a sedan.

On Monday, the sheriff's office revealed that detectives had identified three suspects who had allegedly conspired to kill Blanchard: Sunnerica Sinohui, her boyfriend Dominique Brown, and Sunnerica's brother David Sinohui.

Detectives learned that Brown had already died in an unrelated incident in Washington state. Sunnerica was still living in the Sacramento area, however, while David was in Riverside County.

Both Sunnerica and David were arrested on Sept. 20, the sheriff's office says.

Investigators still have not detailed a motive.
