New Documentary Claims Murderer Scott Peterson Didn't Get Fair Trial
PALM SPRINGS (CBS13) - A new documentary about convicted killer Scott Peterson debuted at a film festival in Palm Springs today.
"Trial By Fury: The People vs. Scott Peterson" claims the Modesto man did not get a fair trial in the 2002 murder of his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner.
This film has not officially been released, so the filmmakers would not provide CBS13 with any clips. But we spoke with one of the directors over the phone who tells us there were red flags in the investigation that were ignored and evidence that never made it into the trial.
"There were eyewitnesses who saw Laci walking the dog the morning of the 24th. There was also a burglary that took place the morning of the 24th across the street from Scott and Laci's home, a taped phone conversation between an inmate and his brother about the burglary. And they said that they were talking about the fact that Laci had confronted the burglars during the burglary," said Shareen Anderson, the film's director.
New York-based Fort Green Filmworks and HWLL Media Group spent three years making the documentary.
Our request to speak with Laci Peterson's family about the story was not immediately returned.
