Netflix To Bankroll, Premiere Four Adam Sandler Movies

LOS ANGLES (CBS Sacramento) - Fans of comedian Adam Sandler will have to forego the theater to see his next four movies.

That's because they will be exclusively shown on Netflix, the movie and TV show streaming service, reports CNet.

Netflix will completely finance the next four films from Sandler's Happy Madison Productions.

"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes," Sandler joked, "for one reason and one reason only: Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks. Let the streaming begin!"

Netflix has been branching out into original programming, including the popular Kevin Spacey political series "House of Cards" and the breakout women's prison drama "Orange is the New Black."

Other upcoming Netflix projects include comedy specials from Chelsea Peretti, Bill Burr, and Bill Cosby.

Sandler has grossed more than $3 billion at the international box office with films like "Happy Gilmore", "Billy Madison", "The Wedding Singer", "Punch-Drunk Love", "The Waterboy", "Big Daddy" and "Grown Ups."

Netflix describes him as one of the few Hollywood stars with global appeal; his films consistently rank among the most viewed by Netflix members around the world.
