Neighbors Stunned After North Highlands Man Shot In His Driveway
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) — A North Highlands shooting left a man critically injured, and police are still searching for the gunman.
"It's crazy you know what happen, it's sad because he might not make it. He's a good friend and everybody knows him and everybody loves him," said Mr. Richwell.
He says trouble happens out here on the Renwick block, but not a shooting in broad daylight.
"That's more like execution style when you do it like that, when you do it pointblank. That's just the way it is," he said.
It was just after 2 p.m. when neighbors heard two shots. Deputies say a 20-year-old was shot in his driveway.
When paramedics arrived they say the young man was still breathing and was rushed to the hospital, but critically hurt.
As for the suspect, they say he took off running towards Harrison Street and disappeared, leading investigators to rely on the public for help.
"People out here in the community are the eyes and ears when things happen, so hopefully we get the cooperation we need to lead the investigation and find a way to get whoever is responsible in custody," said Sacramento Sheriff Sgt. Tony Turnbull.
The sheriff's department does not believe this was a random attack. And Mr. Richwell agrees his friend was targeted.
"He was a good brother. He minded his business and didn't bother anybody. He did his own thing, his music. You know he was really into his family and to himself. He was a good man," he said.
