CBS News Sacramento

MODESTO – A registered sex offender was arrested after a high school student reported she was harassed by a man when she was getting off a bus earlier this week, police said.

The Modesto Police Department received the report on Tuesday that a high school student reported she was harassed by a man when she got off a SMART bus. The student was able to get away from the suspect and report it to the school staff.

Police were able to get a photo of the suspect and later identified him as 34-year-old Christopher Cline, of Modesto, who police said is  a registered sex offender.

Cline was located later Tuesday in Riverbank and was taken into custody.

Detectives said they then learned Cline may be a suspect in similar cases in Oakdale. The Oakdale Police Department said it's looking for additional victims.

During a follow-up investigation, police learned of another victim who had not reported the incident, leading to additional violations.

Cline was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for multiple felony violations.
