Modesto Boy, 12, Cited For Hate Crime Against Classmate

MODESTO (CBS13) – A 12-year-old Modesto boy has been accused of a hate crime and battery after he allegedly attacked his classmate.
Eighth-grader Nuphaeya Hassen says the boy approached her two weeks ago holding sticks while making racial slurs. He then hit her with the sticks.
Nuphaeya says she responded by slapping the boy.
Later that day, the boy's older sister also allegedly assaulted Nuphaeya.
A police spokeswoman says the sister will also be cited.
