Modesto Auto Shop Raided In Drug Trafficking Sweep
MODESTO (CBS13) – A Modesto auto shop was among the handful of places raided by drug enforcement agents Thursday.
According to the Modesto Police Department, the raids are the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration into a suspected drug trafficking ring.
An anonymous tipster is being credited with alerting authorities about possible illegal drug sales going on at Bob's Transmission along Paradise Road in Modesto.
The auto shop, along with five other locations throughout Modesto, Ceres and Turlock, were raided by officers Thursday. Two pounds of meth, undisclosed amounts of cocaine and marijuana, and $56,000 in cash were seized in the raids. A stolen firearm was also recovered.
"These types of narcotic traffickers serve as the suppliers to many street level drug dealers which are quite often linked to local gangs," said Lieutenant Clint Raymer, commander of the Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency, in a statement.
The men arrested Thursday are as follows: 58-year-old Modesto resident Daniel Kee, 47-year-old Modesto resident Jorge Jasso, 45-year-old Turlock resident Alejandro Arenas, 33-year-old Modesto resident Abel Isais Cuevas, and 31-year-old Ceres resident Adan Cabrera.
All the men face numerous drug trafficking charges, including conspiracy, distribution of cocaine and distribution of meth.
