Mexican Authorities Capture Man Accused Of Killing Woman In Elk Grove

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (AP) — A man sought in the fatal shooting of a woman in her Elk Grove, California, apartment has been arrested in Mexico and turned over to U.S. authorities at an Arizona border crossing.

The U.S. Marshals Service said 38-year-old Moises Valdez was deported from Mexico at the San Luis crossing on Thursday.

According to the Marshals Service, Valdez was immediately arrested in the killing of Marissa Pineda De Almanza, a U.S. Air Force Reserve member whose body was found Nov. 2.

aldez is jailed in Yuma while he awaits extradition to California.

The Marshals Service said he's wanted on a murder warrant issued Nov. 4 by Sacramento County Superior Court.
