Massive Drug Bust Nets $2.5 Million Worth Of Pot, $464K In Cash
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – Authorities proudly showed off their latest drug bust Wednesday – a bust that netted more than 850 pounds of marijuana.
It was a traffic stop that eventually led police to the stash, Citrus Heights Police say. According to a release from the department, officers pulled over a car along the 8300 block of Oak Avenue back on April 9. The driver, 31-year-old Jeremy Zahn, was a known subject to the Post-Release Community Supervision team and the stop was a part of an on-going investigation into Zahn, police say.
Inside the car, officers reportedly found 48 pounds of marijuana ready to hit the streets. Zahn was promptly arrested and booked into Sacramento county Jail on multiple drug charges and a violation of his parole.
But, authorities would go on to find a bigger stash at an El Dorado Hills home associated with Zahn.
A search of the home uncovered about 810 pounds of marijuana – a lot of it found behind a false wall, police say. About $464,850 in cash was also found inside of two safes, along with seven firearms, ammunition, and even more marijuana.
In total, about 858 pounds of marijuana was seized – with its street value estimated at around $2.5 million.
A second person, 23-year-old Laverne resident Lindsey Loya, has been arrested in connection to the case. She is being held in Los Angeles County on transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales charges.
The investigation into the operation is still ongoing, Citrus Heights Police say. Anyone with more information is asked to call police at (916) 727-5500.
