Massive 5-Alarm Structure Fire Burns In Phoenix Suburb

GILBERT, Ariz. (AP/CBS13) - Evacuations have been ordered for homes near a major fire in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert.

Officials tell ABC15 that flames spread Saturday evening from an apartment complex under construction to a home near Gilbert and Warner roads, and the fire was only made worse by the winds in the area. Warner from Gilbert to Lindsay was closed while firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

Gilbert Fire and Rescue posted on Twitter that homes from Civic Center Drive to Nunneley to Devon have been evacuated, and the Public Safety Complex Amphitheater is open for evacuees

Authorities told the station that there were no immediate reports of injuries.
