Manteca Couple On The Run For 17 Years Arrested In Salt Lake City
MANTECA (CBS13) – A Manteca couple facing child molestation charges has been arrested in Salt Lake City after being on the run for 17 years.
William Lloyd Balser and Robin Robinson, who were featured on "America's Most Wanted" in 2007, were taken into custody Wednesday, the Manteca Police Department says.
Balser is accused of sexually molesting Robinson's daughter hundreds of times over several years.
Authorities moved to arrest the pair at their Manteca home in February 1998, but found that the two had already left.
Investigators say that Robinson was aware of the abuse and did nothing to stop it. Balser even spoke to investigators some time after being on the run, telling them "they would never catch him."
With the help of the U.S. Marshal Service, the pair was arrested in Salt Lake City Wednesday. The couple is now awaiting extradition back to California.
