Man Who Jumped In To Help Stabbing Victim Dies From Injuries

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – A man who tried to help a juvenile attacked by suspected gang members has died, Sergeant Lisa Bowman says.

The 41-year-old man was one of two men who jumped in to try and stop a stabbing.

Deputies believe that a group of suspected gang members followed a boy into a home along the 2300 block of Wyda Way around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and attacked. The two men tried to intervene, but were also attacked.

The men and the boy all suffered stab wounds and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspects got away from the scene before deputies showed up.

Thursday morning, Bowman said that the 41-year-old man had died from his injuries.

Detectives from both the Sheriff's homicide and gang units are investigating the case. Anyone with information on who may be responsible for the attack is asked to call the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
