WATCH: Lodi Officer Saves Man Stuck On Tracks From Oncoming Train

LODI (CBS13) — Dramatic video shows a Lodi police officer rushing to save a man in a wheelchair who was stuck on the tracks as a train sped toward them.

Officer Erica Urrea pulled the man out of the way just in time. She happened to be in the area Wednesday morning when she saw the man, The man, 66-year-old Jonathan Mata, stuck on the tracks.

As the crossing arm started to come down, she saw the train approaching and bolted from her patrol car with just seconds to spare.

She was able to pull Mata out of his wheelchair before falling to the ground.

Mata was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for severe injuries to his legs. According to family members, one leg was fractured, and the other had to be amputated.

Officer Urrea is now being praised for her heroic actions.

A statement from someone claiming to be Mata's grandchild reads: "We are so thankful for her courageous act of heroism and we know that God put Officer Urrea in the right place at the right time. Heroes truly do exist, and thanks to her, my grandpa is alive and breathing."

Mata is expected to recover from his injuries.
