Man Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison For Robbing Elderly Man, Vehicle Theft
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man convicted of robbing an elderly man who had just bought him and his accomplice dinner was sentenced to over six years in prison.
At the beginning of September, Ryan Crow, 28, pleaded no contest to robbery with an enhancement for targeting an elderly man, and vehicle theft.
Charges against Crow stem from a September 2014 incident in which the 87-year-old victim took Crow and a man known as Smith, to a restaurant. After their meal, Crow and Smith, who were apparently homeless at the time, asked to be dropped off at an apartment complex on Eleanor Street in Sacramento. When they arrived at the apartment, the victim says he felt uncomfortable and asked the two to get out of the car.
Instead of leaving, Crow grabbed the victim from behind and pinned his head against the seat. The two then stole $1,600 in cash from the victim and ran into the apartment complex, according to a statement from the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
The two gave the victim a bloody mouth and a large scratch on his chest.
Smith was arrested and pleaded no contest in January to robbery. He was sentenced to 364 days in Jail.
Crow was caught on February 11 while driving a stolen vehicle. He has a criminal past, which includes felony vehicle thefts, felony drug possession, DUI, and resisting arrest/obstructing a police officer.
Crow was 6 years and 8 months behind bars.
