Man in hospital after overnight shooting in North Highlands

SACRAMENTO — A man is in the hospital after an overnight shooting at Freedom Park in North Highlands, police say. 

Officers responded to the scene around 12:45a.m. and found a male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of being shot in the chest. 

Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies tell us they performed first aid before the victim was transported to the hospital.

There is no suspect information at this time.
