Man Dies After Beating In Davis Nightclub

DAVIS (CBS13) — A man was killed in Davis after a fight involving him and the suspect, Davis Police said on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital after what witnesses are describing as a bar fight inside a popular Thai restaurant that turns into a nightclub.

Crime scene tape surrounded Ket Mo Ree on the corner of Third and G streets hours after the violence.

Bouncer Abhi Amara Nathan described the scene from early Saturday morning.

"Me and two bouncers were outside, we were just trying to break up the fight, whatever happened, we don't know too much details about what happened," he said. "We just saw him, yeah he was just on the floor."

The victim has not been identified. It's not known whether the victim was a student, but Nathan says the Friday night crowd was mostly UC Davis students.

Police aren't saying much, but are hopeful nearby surveillance cameras can help identify the suspect who fled the scene.
