SOLANO COUNTY — A Solano County jury found a man guilty of first-degree murder in the 2022 killing of another man that stemmed from an argument at their apartment complex, prosecutors said Friday.

The Solano County District Attorney's Office said the defendant, Ian Castillo, was involved in a confrontation with the victim, David Alexis on September 6, 2022.

Two days later, Castillo placed ripped-up bible scriptures at Alexis' front door. As Castillo was walking away, Alexis opened the door. That is when the district attorney's office said Castillo charged Alexis with a large chef's knife and stabbed him in the chest.

Alexis was found dead by his mother that same day.

Castillo had first fled to Las Vegas for a short time before being arrested on September 16, 2022, just south of Solano County in Pleasant Hill.

Castillo faces a state prison term of 26 years to life and is scheduled to be sentenced on December 2 in Solano County Superior Court.
