Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Shooting Of West Sacramento Girl

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A Stockton man has been charged with attempted murder for a drive-by shooting that critically injured a girl as she sat in her living room.

Sonny Martinez, 39, was arrested on October 27 in Stockton on suspicion of pulling the trigger three days earlier on Solano Street in West Sacrament and shooting 13-year-old Alize Valadez in the head.

Martinez was formally charged during a preliminary hearing at Yolo County Superior Court on Monday. The next court date in the case is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m.

Alize's aunt said if Alize was not riding her scooter outside, she liked to stay inside on the couch, watching TV.

Alize remains at UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.
