Man Accused Of Stabbing Sacramento Woman To Death Arrested
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The man accused of killing the aunt of Los Angeles Clippers player Matt Barnes has been arrested.
Michael Williams, 51, was arrested around 9 a.m. Tuesday in the murder of his wife, 48-year-old Tanganyika Hoover, according to Officer Michele Gigante, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento Police Department. An anonymous tip led sheriff's deputies to Darla Way and Hemingway Drive -- less than five miles from the crime scene -- where they found Williams.
On July 8, Hoover's body was discovered lying on the sidewalk near Meadowview Road and 24th Street in Sacramento with multiple stab wounds
The case gained new attention last week when Barnes sent out a plea on social media to find his aunt's killer.
Barnes, who grew up in the Sacramento area, posted a photo of Williams on Instagram and Twitter, along with the message: "This dude stabbing my auntie in the neck last week."
Hoover's son, David Williams Jr., says he didn't want to pressure his cousin into getting the word out about Hoover's husband of 1 year and suspected killer.
"I know there's nowhere he's going to be able to go. Somebody is going to see him and at some point we will catch him," he said. "He fooled everyone. We thought that he was a pretty good guy."
Police say Williams was transient and thought to be hiding in south Sacramento.
