Loose lug nut flies through windshield, hits woman in face in Sutter County

KNIGHTS LANDING — A woman was hospitalized after a lug nut came loose from a big rig and flew through a vehicle's windshield in Sutter County, officials said Monday. 

The California Highway Patrol's Yuba-Sutter division said the lug nut struck the woman in the face as she was sitting in the vehicle's passenger seat. 

It happened shortly after 12:45 p.m. along State Route 113 near Knights Road, right at the Sutter-Yolo county line near the town of Knights Landing. 

The woman was transported to a hospital by ambulance, but the severity of her injuries is not known.
