Live Grenade Discovered In Car Near Travis Air Force Base

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – A live grenade was discovered in a car at a business near Travis Air Force Base Wednesday afternoon.

The Solano County Sheriff's Department said an employee at a Pick-N-Pull found a World War II-era pineapple fragmentation grenade at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Nearby businesseswere evacuated and an explosive ordinance disposal team from Travis Air Force Base was also called.

The team soon confirmed it was indeed a live grenade with its pin still inside, deputies say. They were able to collect it safely.

The Pick-n-Pull was reopened around 2:30 p.m.

Investigators are looking into where the grenade come from.
