Law Enforcement Procession Helps Move Det. Mike Davis, Jr. From Sacramento To Roseville
PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — The body of a Placer County Sheriff's detective who was killed in a crime spree on Friday was moved to a church in Roseville on Saturday.
A hearse carrying Michael Davis Jr. was escorted by his law-enforcement family who is struggling to understand what happened Friday.
"I just can't process why I don't know maybe we'll never know why," said Sheriff Ed Bonner. "I think we're still pretty numb as an organization."
The detective's body was taken from the Sacramento County coroner's office to the Chapel of the Valley in Roseville on Saturday. A law-enforcement procession followed, as officers, deputies and firefighters could be seen over Interstate 80 saluting the fallen detective.
"Everyday they go out they put their life on the line and this time this man gave his life just a way to honor him," said mourner Terri Kohnke.
Davis leaves behind a wife and four children.
"I'm heartbroken," Bonner said, "but we are resilient and professional, and we'll be at work today and the next day and the next day."
