Suspect arrested after chase in Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS – A suspect is under arrest after a chase that ended with officers drawing their guns outside of a house in a Citrus Heights neighborhood on Thursday.

Citrus Heights police said, just before 5 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but it wouldn't yield -- prompting a short chase that saw the suspect make a couple of right turns before ditching the car and fleeing into his home near Mercedes Avenue and Paris Street.

Family was then taken out of the home as officers tried to take the suspect into custody.

The home was surrounded by officers, including some who could be seen with guns drawn. A police helicopter was also circling the area.

Police said the suspect was eventually taken into custody.

No other details about the incident, including the suspect's name, have been released.
