Large Fight Leads To Shooting In Rancho Cordova, 17-Year-Old Boy Dead

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – Police are investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy dead early Sunday morning.

Rancho Cordova Police say they were first called to the scene to break up a large, loud party along the 3600 block of Sarament Court a little before midnight. Officers say about 100 people were at the party.

Later, just after 2 a.m., officers say they were called to the scene again after reports about a large fight and gunshots.

At the scene, officers found a 17-year-old boy unconscious after being shot. The boy was soon pronounced dead at the scene by medics, police say.

Police later learned that two other people were shot at the scene and taken to the hospital by private car. One of the people, a man in his 20s, had to undergo immediate surgery due to a life-threatening gunshot wound. The other man's injury is not life-threatening.

Two other people were injured in the fight and were taken to the hospital.

Detectives believe the shooting happened after a large group of people returned to the party after being told to leave by officers. At some point after coming back, the group turned violent and the fight escalated to a shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone attendees of the party who may have seen the fight to call detectives at (916) 874-5115.
