LAPD Employee Dies In Shooting At Home

WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Los Angeles Police Department employee found shot in a Whittier home.

Whittier police Lt. Jay Tatman says officers responding Tuesday to a report of a gunshot victim found a woman suffering from a bullet wound. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The coroner's office identified her Wednesday as 44-year-old Nadine Hernandez.

Officials did not say whether Hernandez was a sworn LAPD officer or a civilian employee.

City News Service says the shooting is being classified as an "undetermined death" and detectives have not said if they're investigating it as a homicide or a suicide.
