LAPD Assists In Mother's Day Delivery Of Baby

LOS ANGELES (AP) - This was not your typical traffic stop.

Two Los Angeles police officers pulled over a speeding car early Sunday to find a woman about to give birth and a frantic man behind the wheels.

Police said officers Maraea Toomalatai and Brian Armendariz escorted the couple to a downtown hospital.

When they arrived at the hospital, one officer alerted the medical staff while the other helped the mother-to-be.

Police said a healthy boy named Messiah Tindley was born inside the car on Mother's Day.

The LAPD later issued a photo of the newborn inside the hospital with his beaming parents - Sasha Murphy and Mohammed Tindley - and the equally beaming officers.
