Kings Select Marquese Chriss With No. 8 Pick In NBA Draft

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The Sacramento Kings drafted Washington forward Marquese Chriss with the eighth overall pick in the NBA draft Thursday.

General manager Vlade Divac opted for the Sacramento native who is considered a top athlete but still needs to develop.

The 6-foot-9 Chriss averaged 13.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in his only season at Washington. Chriss has shooting range, hitting 35 percent on 3-pointers, but committed 4.1 fouls per game and was not a strong rebounder.

This marks the 10th straight season the Kings picked in the lottery, the NBA's longest streak since the system to determine the No. 1 pick was instituted in 1985.

UPDATE: The Kings appear to have traded the rights of Chriss to the Pheonix Suns for picks No. 13 and 28, as well as the rights to Bogdan Bogdanovic.
