Judge: Man Accused Of Killing Two Deputies Competent To Stand Trial

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The man accused of killing two local sheriff's deputies in a crime spree spanning two counties will stand trial.

A judge ruled Friday that Luis Enrique Monroy Bracamontes is mentally competent to stand trial.

Bracamontes is accused of killing Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Sheriff's Detective Michael Davis Jr. in a shooting rampage back in October of 2014.

Janelle Marquez Monroy, Bracamontes' wife, was also in court today to face charges in connection with the killings.She pled not guilty.

A preliminary hearing for Bracamontes is scheduled for March 28.
