SACRAMENTO – A mother and father have been arrested in Sacramento County on suspicion of homicide after the death of their young daughter.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says they started investigating the case back on Aug. 25.

Eight-month-old Jannah Abughazaleh was found unresponsive and serious burns to much of her body, investigators say. Her parents – Hussein Abughazaleh and Kristina Siedlecki – claimed that the injuries stemmed from a bath she had taken days earlier.

Detectives say both parents have since admitted to watching the child's condition deteriorate, but never seeking medical care over fears of Child Protective Services getting involved.

With Jannah's death being officially ruled a homicide, the sheriff's office announced in a Dec. 5 release that Hussein and Kristina have been arrested on homicide charges.
