Investigators Quiet On Accusations Against Placer County Sheriff's Deputy

PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — A Placer County Sheriff's deputy is under investigation and has been placed on administrative leave, but officials aren't revealing what the investigation is about.

The department says because this is still an active investigation with the district attorney's office, very little information is being released.

But the new allegations surround a deputy who has been in the news before.

Ken Skogen has been commended in the past, receiving the public safety officer medal of valor for pulling an elderly woman from her home during the 49er Fire in 2009.

He's also the same deputy who made news in 2010 when his 3-year-old daughter accidentally shot herself with one of her father's guns in their Roseville garage. The district attorney's office investigated to determine whether Skogen acted in a grossly negligent manner in the storage of his firearms. No charges were filed.

The sheriff's department would not comment on this current investigation, but sent CBS13 a statement that said in part, "We are taking these allegations very seriously and immediately requested the Placer County District Attorney's Office to conduct a criminal investigation."

CBS13 also went by the district attorney's office, who said they can't comment on Skogen's case until its investigation is complete.
